MONTHLY MEETINGS

Members gather the first Saturday each month at the Trini Mendenhall Community Center (1414 Wirt Road, Houston 77055).  The Board of Directors will meet at 9 AM, followed by the regular meeting starting at 10 AM.  Refreshments provided.

Monthly meetings include world-renowned guest speaker programs, “show and tell” demonstrations, and hands on workshops that inform and educate.

You are welcome to still wear a mask if you have a medical issue, or will feel more comfortable, but it is not required.

  • Saturday, Sept 18th, Bonsai Basics #2 – Styling and Wiring, Timeless Trees, 1 PM – 5 PM, $60.00 (8 spots – Full – 2 on waiting list) We will teach the basics of styling and wiring a tree. We will provide a tree, (Boxwood, Yaupon or Podocarpus, depending on what is in season.) wire cutters, handout, and wire. Everyone goes home with a styled tree.
  • Saturday, Sept 25th, Podocarpus Bonsai, Timeless Trees, 9 Am -12 Noon, $25.00 (8 spots – 5 open ) You can bring your own tree or buy one of ours. We will focus on styling and wiring. We do not plan to repot during this workshop.
  • Saturday, Sept 25th, Japanese Mulberry Workshop, Timeless Trees, 1 PM – 4 PM, $45.00 ( 8 spots ) These Shohin sized trees make a great addition go your collection. The leaves will reduce. They all had red fruit in the spring. I repotted these in the early spring, so they are all in Ceramic Bonsai pots. They just need a little wire, to keep them in shape.
  • Saturday, October 2nd , HBS monthly program: Trini Mendenhall Community Center, 10 AM – 12 Noon, Mike Lane will be the guest artist. You are welcome to still wear a mask if you have a medical issue, or will feel more comfortable, but it is not required.
